Bruce Dumas, an accomplished artist from New England, has pursued a professional painting career since 1982. His dedication to the arts was evident from an early age, beginning with sketching and drawing in his childhood. Initially concentrating on Fantasy and Science Fiction themes, he later expanded his repertoire to landscape painting and subsequently incorporated wildlife subjects into his work, capturing them within their natural environments. Having previously worked with oil paints, he now exclusively utilizes acrylics on canvas, creating artwork that encompasses nature, landscapes, seascapes, and harbor scenes inspired by extensive research trips along the east coast, spanning from Maine to Florida. His masterful application of contrast and color, combined with detailed yet natural brushstrokes, brings his canvases to life.
As an award-winning painter, Bruce has exhibited in fine art shows and galleries across Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont. He has held successful solo exhibitions at venues such as the Aardvark Art Studio, CT Audubon Coastal Center, The Sandman Gallery, and Patrick's Fine Art Gallery in NYC. Additionally, Dumas has exhibited and sold his paintings at the Greenwich Workshop Gallery, one of Connecticut's premier galleries.
Bruce is affiliated with the Naples Art Association and the Lyme Art Association, where he contributed to their brochure illustration. Art Licensing International, a prominent art licensing and publishing firm, represents Bruce Dumas.
Dumas studied art at Paier College of Art. His works are currently on display at Coconut Grove Gallery & Interiors in Miami, FL, and at Center Framing & Art in West Hartford, CT. Furthermore, Bruce is an active participant in outdoor art exhibitions during the summer and autumn seasons.
